The Italian Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease Research

The Italian Foundation for Parkinson ’s disease (Fondazione Parkinson Italia) has, as its main goal, that of improving the quality of everyday life of people affected by Parkinson’s disease and hence their "participation", defined as involvement and social integration.

The Foundation moves alongside "Parkinson Italia", the Confederation of Italian Associations for Parkinson’s Disease. The two organizations will work with a strong collaboration.

The Foundation avails itself of the advice of a prestigious Scientific Committee and an Ethics Commission. The latter does not replace the ethical committees of university and hospital organizations, but it is a first form of control and guarantee in the appraisal of the research projects that the Foundation will develop, and will check the projects’ settings and the respect of the Rules of Good Clinical Practice.

Mission

The Foundation pursues the following goals:

- Promoting research in Parkinson’s disease and motion disturbances

- Promoting multidisciplinary projects for the cure of people with Parkinson’s disease
 

- Encouraging and spreading of new studies about the disease
 

- Setting up of education and training mechanisms to ensure high levels of knowledge and professionalism for doctors, psychologists, rehabilitation therapists, nurses and social workers.
